*Department/Location: *Public Works and Utilities - Public Works Section*FLSA Status: * Non-exempt*Bargaining Unit: *NONE*Classification: * Essential: This position is an Essential classification and will require you to report to duty after a hurricane or emergency.*Schedule: *This position normally works a regular weekday daytime shift and requires scheduled/unscheduled overtime, including evenings, weekends and holidays and/or immediate response to emergency conditions.*Supervision Exercised: *None*Supervision Received: *Superintendent*General Purpose of the Position: *The purpose of this position is to perform clerical and recordkeeping duties including but not limited to accounts receivable, collection of fees, preparation of purchase requisitions for Solid Waste (Residential and Commercial and Recycling Departments)*Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * - Maintain employee driving records. - Perform dispatching duties. - Answer phones in a clean and concise tone and professional manner; assist the public cooperatively and courteously. - Control the keys for all department vehicles. - Submit work orders. - Type award cards, new hire cards, and injury reports. - Schedule appointments. - Maintain office files, publications, titles/records on all City vehicles. - Act as the department librarian. - Prepare correspondence, perform research, prepare reports and maintain files in support of restitution procedures. - Order supplies. - Type, edit and proofread reports and letters. - Perform other duties as assigned.*Skills and Physical Abilities Required: * - Ability to type at a prescribed rate of speed. - General knowledge of safe work techniques and practices used in solid waste collection. - Ability to make independent judgments and decisions appropriate to experience. - Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with employees and the public. - Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. - Ability to work in close, confined spaces, walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear, reach above shoulders, work overhead on ladders and platforms, use fingers and hands with dexterity, and feel and reach with hands and arms. - Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. - Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.*Equipment and Software Requirements: * Windows Based Computer, Adding machine, Motorala 2-way Mobile Radio, Pager system and other equipment. Occasionally drive non-CDL vehicles.*Education and Experience Required: *High school diploma or GED equivalent. Four (4) years of experience in work related to collections and accounts payable.Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Florida driver's license with a safe driving record.*Environmental Conditions: *Mostly inside work. Some outside may be needed.*Commercial Driver License (CDL): * A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is not required for this position.*Pay grade: *110 *Salary Range: Minimum: *$14.19/hour *Maximum: * $21.29/hourThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
