Job Summary/Overview

The principle purpose of the Staff Workstation Engineer is to provide insight and recommendations to inform long-term IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple systems. This individual serves as the technical lead which must have advanced proficiency in associated workstation infrastructure and systems. This individual will closely work with EUS leadership to establish the technical direction for the development and modification of workstation infrastructure solutions within various computing environments supporting the mission of TriNet.

The Staff Workstation Engineer will translate business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable designs for designated infrastructure systems. In addition, this individual will plan and orchestrate work among technical teams.

The Staff Workstation Engineer performs the implementation and maintenance of assigned enterprise infrastructure systems to ensure successful deployment and operation and monitoring of mission critical services.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

--- The Staff Workstation Engineer provides insight and recommendations to inform long-term IT infrastructure planning, engineering, and architecture across multiple systems by assessing the implications of IT strategies on infrastructure capabilities; partnering with IT business leaders, App Admin, and enterprise architects to review business drivers, and to define, understand, and communicate target strategies and roadmaps to IT leadership and EUS.

--- Provide well developed and documented recommendations regarding infrastructure upgrades anticipating IT industry directions to support current and future needs and projects to EUS leadership.

--- Work closely with technical teams in the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements that support integrated and sustainable designs for designated infrastructure systems by leveraging partnerships with IT business analysts to understand business needs and functional specifications.

--- Build solutions that support the technical direction of infrastructure solutions within various computing environments by ensuring the delivery of technical solutions that meet business problems; guiding and driving physical architecture design for new initiatives; Perform the development and validation of system design prototypes.

--- Foster and leverage partnerships with various IT Teams (e.g., EUS, Architecture, Infosec, Tech Ops, etc.) throughout system development and implementation; ensuring system designs adhere to company architecture standards; performing the development of hardware and software configurations and the preparation of system components for installation to the infrastructure.

--- Perform systems integration testing (SIT), component integration testing (CIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT) for assigned systems by establishing test metrics; report testing issues to EUS leadership; provide post-testing results to EUS leadership for approval.

--- Assist EUS leadership providing input to capital and expense budgets for the development, enhancement, and/or maintenance of designated workstation technologies.

--- Mentor junior team members providing technical and procedural guidance in performance of their duties; supporting team career development.

--- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of assigned enterprise infrastructure systems to ensure successful deployment and operation by researching, formulating, and monitoring processes and procedures for the introduction and maintenance of services; partner with stakeholders on the plan and scheduling of distribution of packages to enable successful rollout of new or upgraded systems; ensuring compliance with security and policy standards.

--- Partner with Service Desk and other IT teams monitoring incident trends identifying any potential reoccurring issues needing escalation; serve as a technical support escalation point for workstation administration; troubleshoot complex or high impact system issues determining root cause; recommending and prioritizing action plans to address infrastructure system performance issues in consideration of organizational impact

--- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the manager's discretion.

Job Requirements & Qualifications


--- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical /Electronic Engineering preferred, or equivalent education and/or related work experience desired

Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

--- Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate (MCA) = preferred

--- Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) = preferred

--- Citrix Certified Professional (CCP-V) = preferred

--- Apple Certified Systems Administrator (ACSA) = preferred

--- JAMF Certified Expert (JCE) = preferred

--- ITIL Foundation certification = preferred

--- Experience: 8 years equivalent systems engineering experience in a business or production environment. Previous experience in end-user computing, quality engineering, system administration, or related areas.

--- Demonstrable track record of introducing new and/or improved technology in a business or production environment.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

--- Ability to professionally communicate with employees at all levels of the organization

--- Advanced ability to create, update and interpret technical documentation. Turnover technical documentation to support teams required to sustain technology services.

--- A proven technical aptitude to provide best-in-class comprehensive technical support and development support for Windows environments.

--- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills including the ability to successfully execute on multiple projects

--- Process oriented focus, but flexible around business needs

--- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

--- Advanced Citrix Xen desktop/app experience including infrastructure component design and maintenance

--- Expert proficiency of Windows 10 Workstation and 2016/2019 Server operating platforms; system migrations; upgrades; OS security hardening.

--- Experience managing Microsoft Office365 update channels in an enterprise

--- In-depth Experience administering Active Directory domains, groups and GPOs in a hybrid AAD (Azure) environment

--- Experience utilizing automation scripting techniques using PowerShell, Swift, or Objective-C languages

--- Demonstrated proficiency of Networking technologies (LAN, protocols, physical and logical topologies, DNS, DHCP, and firewalls)

--- Advanced proficiency of managing Apple MacOS systems in an enterprise including management platforms (JAMF Pro)

--- Advanced experience configuring, troubleshooting and utilizing Microsoft SCCM in an enterprise in combination with Intune Co-management

--- Solid proficiency with Certificate management (PKI; root CA; 802.1x; app signing
