Job Description COMPANY PROFILE The Oshkosh Fire & Emergency segment is a single-source designer and manufacturer of fire apparatus, homeland security vehicles, mobile command, communications vehicles, and airport rescue firefighting vehicles. SUMMARY While utilizing ethically accepted purchasing practices, activities and techniques, procure all goods and services from suppliers in an assigned commodity group. Ensure timely delivery of raw materials, component parts and assemblies, services capital equipment, MRO equipment and supplies to manufacturing through established sources of supply. Respond to critical shortages as a first priority. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Manage assigned suppliers, ensuring consistent quality, competitive pricing, adequate service and technical support and timely delivery of components and services to meet Pierce's goals and objectives. 2. Review and approve purchase requisitions to ensure its accuracy and thoroughness, ie. qualified supplier, price, description, delivery quantity, FOB point and terms, prior to purchase order generation on the assigned or controlled purchased materials, items or services. 3. Communicate and interview suppliers' agents and representatives via plant and personal visits, written correspondence and the telephone, and maintain a good work relationship with same for the benefit of Pierce. 4. Review and approve all acknowledgments covering purchases assigned or controlled by the Buyer whenever a discrepancy exists against the original purchase order or contract. Negotiate with the supplier when necessary to resolve the discrepancy. 5. Coordinate and carry out the necessary follow-up and expediting activities to ensure the delivery of materials, items or services, or controlled by the Buyer as required to meet the Company's production schedules. 6. Negotiate and contract for the removal or shipment and the reimbursement to the Company for salvage, scrap, warranty replacement, over shipments, obsolete and defective materials or items. 7. Prepare periodic reports pertaining to various accountabilities, activities and projects, etc., as determined by Management. 8. Initiate, negotiate and coordinate supplier scheduling programs with suppliers. 9. Purchase, within the time frame allotted, all the nonscheduled or non-planned production requirements. 10. Enforce supplier utilization of internet tools; establish programs and goals regarding internet tools. 11. Track personal progress toward department and personal goals. 12. Administer and complete all other projects as assigned.
